MATCH REPORT
Although this was probably not a full strength squad, Hampton & Richmond Bough provided lively opposition to an equally mix and match Chertsey Town side at Alwyns Lane. The result was a 2 – 2 draw with all goals coming in the first half but with more energy and open play coming in the second.
Hampton opened the scoring on 14 minutes with a shot from 10 yards after the ball had been cut back from the goal line. Chertsey replied five minutes later when Andre DeLisser fired in low from the same distance.
Town then took the lead with only 23 minutes gone with last season’s top scorer John Pomroy turning the ball home for his first goal of the new season. The visitors replied 12 minutes later with a first time shot from 25 yards that took enough of a deflection to put the ball out of reach from Michael Lidbury in his first appearance this season in the Chertsey goal.
